Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a crucial step in addressing long-pending financial commitments by clearing ₹2,000 crore in pending bills, benefiting around 17,000 contractors, with a special focus on small contractors.
Following the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav held discussions with top officials of the Finance Department on Saturday to facilitate bill payments. The priority areas for payments include projects under Water-Tree, Pothole-Free Roads, and NABARD-funded works.
Additionally, the government has allocated funds for the Polavaram project and irrigation maintenance bills. Minister Keshav emphasized that despite financial challenges, the government is committed to strengthening the state’s economy by ensuring the clearance of long-overdue payments, some of which have been pending for the past three to four years.
The minister highlighted that clearing these payments would improve the financial ecosystem of the state, boost contractor confidence, and accelerate infrastructure development.
