Vijayawada, June 15: The Andhra Pradesh government is taking decisive steps to address long-pending fee reimbursement dues owed to students. State Human Resources, IT, and Electronics Minister, Nara Lokesh, has requested detailed reports on the dues under the Vidya Devena and Vasati Devena schemes.
During a review of the higher education department on Saturday, Lokesh emphasized the urgency of resolving issues related to suspended certificates in colleges due to unpaid government fees. This concern was highlighted by thousands of students during his Padayatra.
Lokesh has called for comprehensive reports on several critical issues, including admissions in government higher educational institutions from the 2018-19 academic year to the present, fee structures in engineering colleges, vacancies in higher education institutions, faculty recruitment details, state division-related issues, and the results of the learning management system.
With the new academic year approaching, Lokesh stressed the need for these reports to be submitted by Wednesday for prompt review and action. Additionally, he requested a report on declining admissions in government degree colleges and the drop in university rankings, urging measures to restore their prominence.
Lokesh also demanded a thorough explanation regarding controversies surrounding vice-chancellors and allegations of corruption in universities.
