Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders to restore the original names of various irrigation projects across the state. Previously, under the YSRCP government, these projects were renamed after YSRCP leaders. The new coalition government has now reversed these changes.
One notable change includes the renaming of the YSR Palnadu Drought Relief Project, which has been restored to its original name, the Godavari-Penna River Linking Project. Similarly, the YSR Vedadri Upliftment Scheme has been renamed back to the Muktyala Upliftment Scheme. In total, the names of 12 irrigation projects will be reverted to their original designations.
This move reflects the coalition government’s commitment to preserving the historical and cultural significance of the state’s irrigation infrastructure. The restoration of these names aims to honor the legacy of the original projects and the regions they serve.
