Vijayawada: Unidentified persons hurled stones at chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Ajit Singh nagar in Vijayawada on Saturday during his election campaign ‘Memanta Siddham’. Reportedly, Jagan suffered an eye injury in the attack.
Duty doctors provided first aid and a special team of doctors and plastic surgeons provided treatment. The Plastic surgery department provided treatment at Vijayawada Government General hospital.
He was advised to take rest for a day. Jagan canceled his Yatra on Sunday and stayed back at the campsite at Kesarapalli at Gannavaram assembly segment.
YSRCP termed the attack as a conspiracy by opposition parties. Vijayawada central YSRCP candidate. Vellampalli Srinivas, Vijayawada central YSRCP candidate in his complaint suspected the usage of airgun and sought a detailed enquiry.
Ajith Singh Nagar police registered a case under section 307 of IPC and launched a detailed investigation.
