Tirupati: Former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has raised concerns about the increasing pub culture and anti-social activities in Tirupati, urging immediate action to preserve the sanctity of the sacred temple town.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reddy accused ruling party leaders of enabling the rise of liquor and drug-related issues in the region. He highlighted that the availability of alcohol and drugs at all hours, coupled with the spread of pub culture into areas like Tiruchanur, is eroding the spiritual and pious atmosphere of Tirupati.
Reddy criticized the violation of liquor shop operating hours and the unchecked sale of drugs, which he claimed are further disturbing the temple town’s sanctity. He called on the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to intervene immediately and take stringent measures to curb these activities.
“If all this is happening without their knowledge, it’s even more alarming,” he added, emphasizing the urgency of the issue.
Reddy also assured that the YSRCP would escalate the matter at appropriate levels to ensure the sanctity of Tirupati is restored and maintained.
