Amaravati: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan inaugurated the 35th Vijayawada Book Fair at the Indira Gandhi Sports Ground, organized by the Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS). Addressing the gathering on the Sahitya Vedika platform, he credited books for giving him the courage to face life’s challenges.
Pawan Kalyan shared personal anecdotes about his love for books. “My parents instilled the habit of reading in me. I value giving books more than giving money. Even though I stopped formal education after Intermediate, my learning never stopped because of books. Inspired by Rabindranath Tagore, who learned at home, I believe books are the ultimate teachers,” he said.
During the event, the Deputy CM unveiled a biography of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, authored by Krishna Rao. Other dignitaries, including Sahitya Akademi Secretary K. Srinivasa Rao, ‘Eenadu’ editor M. Nageswara Rao, MP Kalishetti Appalanayudu, and MLA Mandali Buddhaprasad, attended the program.
VBFS Secretary Manoharnaidu announced that the book fair will run from January 2 to 12, from 2 PM to 9 PM, featuring 270 stalls. VBFS President K. Lakshmaiah revealed special venues for literary and student events.
