Vishakapatnam: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, condemned the state government for mismanaging sand and liquor policies, allowing mafias to flourish while failing to deliver on public welfare. He attributed rising corruption and disarray in these sectors to poor planning by the TDP coalition government.
Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, Botsa expressed alarm over the escalating prices of essential goods, accusing the government of failing to control inflation. He also blamed the recent diarrhea-related deaths in Gurla on government neglect and urged prompt compensation for affected families along with proper medical care for those still suffering.
Botsa criticized the ruling coalition’s unfulfilled promises, stating that despite announcements, sand and liquor prices remain high with no real benefits for the public. Initially willing to give the government six months to meet its promises, Botsa said the opposition is now demanding accountability after only three months due to worsening conditions. He referenced CM Chandrababu Naidu’s comment on potential mid-term elections, adding that the opposition has “started the countdown” on government performance.
