Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has strongly criticized former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for allegedly causing significant damage to the Polavaram project, considered the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh. During a media conference at the State Secretariat, Naidu released a white paper detailing the mismanagement of the project under Jagan’s leadership.
Naidu revealed through a power-point presentation that imprudent decisions by Jagan led to the complete damage of the diaphragm wall of Polavaram, putting the project’s future in jeopardy. He accused Jagan of ignoring the Polavaram Project Authority’s (PPA) recommendations and diverting central funds allocated for the project.
The white paper claims that under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime until 2019, 72% of the project was completed, whereas the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government only managed 3.84%. Naidu criticized Jagan’s proposal to limit the project’s height to 41.15 meters, calling it a severe setback.
Naidu expressed sorrow over the project’s current state, emphasizing the need for public awareness and thorough discussion on the issue. He urged people to question Jagan’s decisions and highlighted the significant loss the state suffered under his rule.
Naidu also stressed the importance of completing the Polavaram and Amaravati projects to mitigate the state’s losses. He vowed to work towards rebuilding the state, calling on the public to participate in this effort.
