Amaravati: Former Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam has shared his critical experiences working under Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, highlighting what he sees as the latter’s extreme and destructive ideas. Subrahmanyam, who served as Chief Secretary during the early days of the YSR Congress Party’s tenure, recounted his experiences in an interview with ‘Eenadu’.
One of the most shocking moments, according to Subrahmanyam, was Jagan’s proposal to relocate the Visakhapatnam steel plant 20 kilometers away from the city and build the state capital on its land. “It took me some time to understand what he was saying,” Subrahmanyam said, noting that Jagan dismissed his concerns about pollution studies and feasibility.
Subrahmanyam also criticized Jagan’s decision to demolish Prajavedika, a public grievance hall, just days before a planned collector’s conference. He described the chaotic planning process and lack of communication from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as stressful and irresponsible.
“He had no interest or patience in discussing state development, funding, or budget in depth,” Subrahmanyam stated. “The person sitting in the position of the Chief Minister should be very responsible. If we don’t act responsibly, our lives and future will be threatened.”
Subrahmanyam urged the public to be cautious about whom they elect, emphasizing the importance of responsible leadership for the state’s future.
