Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed gratitude to the Central Government on Thursday for approving a new railway line connecting Amaravati. He appealed for the project’s completion within three years, estimating the cost at Rs 2,245 crore for a 57-km rail stretch linking Amaravati with major cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
Naidu urged the Centre to make the 3.2-km railway bridge over the Krishna River an iconic structure, reflecting Amaravati’s rapid development. Highlighting government support, he noted that Andhra Pradesh’s ongoing railway projects are worth Rs 72,000 crore, including upgrades to key stations. The foundation stone for the Amaravati rail project is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November or December.
Naidu also announced free sand supplies for the public and construction workers, emphasizing that this initiative counters prior exploitation of resources under the previous government. Additionally, he confirmed a commitment to water accessibility for all farmlands through river interlinking.
Addressing past governance, Naidu promised to disclose all General Orders (GOs) kept secret by the YSRCP, criticizing prior governance for alleged corruption and concealment.
