Chhattisgarh: Akash Kanojia, a 31-year-old driver from Chhattisgarh, recently revealed the hardships he faced after being mistakenly arrested as a suspect in the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. While the Mumbai Police quickly identified and arrested the real accused, Akash claims the brief ordeal left his life in shambles.

Akash shared his ordeal, stating, “My photos were circulated in the media as the main suspect, causing immense humiliation to my family. I lost my job, and my engagement was called off.” He explained that the police detained him while traveling to meet his fiancée, leading to further distress.

Although Akash was released after the police confirmed his innocence, he lamented that the damage was already done. “The police failed to notice that I had a mustache, unlike the person seen on CCTV. Had the real accused not been caught quickly, my life could have been ruined,” he added.

The actual attack on Saif Ali Khan occurred on January 16. A nationwide search led to Akash’s detention at Durg railway station, but the real suspect, Sharipul Islam Shehzad Mohammad alias Vijays, was later arrested in a swift operation. Akash now appeals for justice and a chance to rebuild his life.
