Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has laid the foundation stone for the new Osmania Hospital building, aimed at providing state-of-the-art medical facilities to the people. The Bhoomi Pooja for the project was performed by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, and other ministers. The hospital, currently located in Afzalgunj, will be shifted to Goshamahal Stadium, where a modern 32 lakh square feet facility with 2,000 beds will be constructed.
Speaking at the event, Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha called the new Osmania Hospital a 30-year-old dream come true. He emphasized that Osmania is a lifeline for thousands of patients, and the government has decided to build the new facility in Goshamahal instead of relocating it elsewhere. The project, divided into five phases, is expected to be completed within two years.
The 26-acre hospital campus will be designed to match corporate hospital standards, ensuring that it meets healthcare needs for the next century. The new building will include super-specialty services, dedicated operation theaters, ICU wards, diagnostic services, and robotic surgery facilities across 30 departments. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹2,500–₹2,700 crore, is expected to increase the number of doctors by 20% and cater to 5,000 outpatients daily.
