Amaravati: Japanese air conditioning and refrigeration giant Daikin Industries, in partnership with Taiwan-based Rechi Precision, will establish a compressor manufacturing unit in Sri City with an investment of ₹1,000 crore. The state-of-the-art facility will focus on producing rotary compressors for inverter and non-inverter air conditioners, catering to both domestic and international markets.
According to a company statement, Daikin will hold the majority stake in this joint venture, with the investment expected to materialize within the current financial year. Spread across 75 acres, the Sricity factory will be one of the largest compressor manufacturing units in Southeast Asia.
Daikin India revealed plans to enhance its production capacity in India, increasing from the current 2 million units to 5 million by 2030. Along with the Sri City plant, three additional manufacturing units are being set up across the country. This expansion aims to secure a dominant share in the domestic AC market.
The company emphasized its goal of delivering affordable, high-quality air conditioners to India’s growing middle-class segment. The new facility aligns with this vision, positioning India as a significant hub for AC manufacturing and exports.
