Kakinada: Retired IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao has called for a fresh investigation into the murder of Dalit youth Veddhi Subrahmanyam, describing it as one of the most inhuman incidents that occurred during the previous YSRCP government. Speaking from Pedapudi on Monday, Venkateswara Rao met the victim’s parents, Nukaratnam and Satyanarayana, and assured them of full support in seeking justice.
He alleged that efforts were made during the Jagan-led government to shield MLC Anantha Babu, who was allegedly involved in the crime. Despite three years passing since the incident and ten months after the change in government, justice remains elusive. Venkateswara Rao demanded that a special team be constituted to re-investigate the case after obtaining court permission, stressing that the original investigation was manipulated to protect the accused.
He criticized the role of Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy and other leaders, alleging they influenced the police system to weaken the case. Venkateswara Rao also demanded an investigation into the rice robbery case linked to former MLA Dwarampudi and his associates. He warned that if authorities fail to act, he will approach government leaders and escalate the issue. Leaders from the Republican Party of India (Ambedkar) and other public organizations participated in the discussions.
