The Election Commission of India (ECI,) on the 25th of May, submitted the list of newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) to Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India.

Sunil Arora, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Ashok Lavasa, the Election Commissioner met Ram Nath Kovind and submitted the copy of the official list.

Approximately 8,000 candidates contested for a total of 542 Parliament seats in India during the Lok Sabha elections.

The 17th Lok Sabha elections was held from 11th of April to the 19th of May and the results of the elections were announced on the 23rd of May.

Approximately 350 MPs in India represent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA.) On the other hand, 52 MPs belong to the Indian National Congress and the remaining are from other parties across India.

The ECI submitted the list in order to begin the process of constituting the 17th Lok Sabha after dissolving the 16th Lok Sabha.

After receiving the official list of the MPs, Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India can formally start the process to form the 17th Lok Sabha.
