
Obulavaripalle: A tragic incident unfolded at Gundalakona in Obulavaripalle Mandal, Annamayya district, where a group of devotees was attacked by wild elephants while trekking to a temple for Maha Shivratri celebrations. The attack left three devotees dead and two others critically injured.
The deceased have been identified as Vankayala Dinesh, Tupakula Manamma, and Changal Rayudu. The injured individuals are receiving medical treatment, with their condition reported as critical.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the tragic incident. He directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured and assured that the affected families will receive government support.
Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan extended condolences to the victims’ families and announced Rs.10 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and Rs.5 lakh for the injured. He also directed Railway Kodur MLA Sridhar to visit the affected families immediately.
Pawan Kalyan has ordered the forest department to submit a comprehensive report on the elephant attack, highlighting the need for enhanced wildlife safety measures in the region.
