Vijayawada: Former Gannavaram MLA and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi was produced in the Vijayawada court after his police custody ended. During the hearing, Vamsi raised concerns about his isolation in the prison cell, citing his asthma condition and requesting that another person be kept with him for safety.
The judge acknowledged that Vamsi had access to an attendant nearby but stated that, as an in-charge judge, he could not issue an order for a cellmate. However, he warned that if any health complications arose, authorities would be held responsible. The court instructed Vamsi’s counsel to file a memo in the regular court on Friday regarding the request for a cell change. Meanwhile, the Jail Superintendent ordered a warden to be assigned to his cell.
Police Claim Evidence of Case Manipulation
Vijayawada Central ACP Damodar alleged that Vamsi and his associates attempted to manipulate the case by threatening Satyavardhan. He revealed that CCTV footage and technical evidence confirm Vamsi’s involvement in a kidnapping plot. The ACP also stated that Vamsi admitted to meeting YS Jagan in Hyderabad on February 12 but provided incomplete responses to key questions. The police plan to seek further custody of Vamsi and other accused individuals for additional investigation.
