Amaravati: Fresh allegations have surfaced against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, as victims of alleged land encroachments during his tenure are now approaching the police. Over the past five years, many claim to have suffered harassment and illegal land grabs, but fear prevented them from filing complaints. With three cases already registered in Gannavaram constituency, another serious case has now been added.
The latest complaint concerns Panakala Pond in Marlapalem, spread over 18 acres. For the past 40 years, around 15 villagers had been cultivating portions of this land. However, in 2023, Vallabhaneni Vamsi and his associates allegedly pressured them to vacate their lands, forcibly seized the area, and illegally sold the soil, claiming they were developing the pond for public use. The farmers were initially promised alternative land, but the assurances never materialized.
One of the victims, Jasti Muralikrishna of Marlapalem, lodged a formal complaint with the Gannavaram police on Tuesday night. Based on his statement, a case has been filed against Vallabhaneni Vamsi (A1), Ravi (A2), Ranga (A3), Seshu (A4), and Mechineni Babu (A5). The case is now under investigation.
