Anantapur: The Vijayawada Cyber Crime Police have issued a notice to former MP and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Gorantla Madhav for allegedly making inappropriate comments on social media and disclosing the identity of a rape victim.
The action follows a complaint filed by Vasireddy Padma on November 2, 2024, alleging that three months prior, Madhav had revealed the victim’s name in a media conference and made objectionable remarks on social media. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under multiple sections of the law.
On Thursday evening, a team of Vijayawada police visited Gorantla Madhav’s residence in Anantapur and served a notice under Section 35(3), directing him to appear before the Cyber Crime Police in Vijayawada on March 5 for investigation.
With this legal notice, political tensions have risen, as the case draws public and media attention. Further developments will depend on Madhav’s response and the ongoing investigation.
