Amaravati: Former Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao has urged Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan to rename Kurnool district in honor of Damodaram Sanjeevayya, the former Chief Minister and Union Minister. Hanumantha Rao met Pawan Kalyan at the Janasena party central office in Mangalagiri to discuss this proposal.

He highlighted Sanjeevayya’s contributions to social welfare, particularly in securing pensions and improving labor rights. Additionally, he proposed the construction of a memorial building dedicated to Sanjeevayya’s legacy.

Responding to the request, Pawan Kalyan assured that he would bring the matter to the attention of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The meeting concluded with Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan honoring Hanumantha Rao for his efforts in preserving the contributions of prominent leaders.

The proposal has sparked discussions among political and social circles, as renaming districts to honor influential leaders has been a topic of debate in Andhra Pradesh. If approved, this move could serve as a tribute to Sanjeevayya’s impact on the state’s political and social development.
