Hyderabad: The accused in the chilling Meerpet murder case, Gurumurthy, was presented to the media by the Rachakonda Police on Tuesday. The police detailed the horrific sequence of events surrounding the murder of his wife, Venkata Madhavi. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Sudhirababu shared that the investigation was labor-intensive, with police working tirelessly to gather evidence.

According to Sudhirababu, Gurumurthy, who killed his wife in a cold and calculated manner, showed no remorse. “This was not a crime of passion; it was a planned murder,” said the police commissioner, describing Gurumurthy as “savage by nature.”

The tragic incident unfolded during Sankranthi when Gurumurthy and Madhavi left their children at a relative’s house. On the night of January 15, the couple returned home, where an argument broke out the next morning. Madhavi was violently attacked, her head slammed against a wall, and she fell unconscious. Gurumurthy then murdered her and gruesomely dismembered the body into four parts. He boiled the remains on a stove, burned them, and disposed of the ashes in a pond, hoping to leave no trace of the crime.

When questioned by the children about their mother’s whereabouts, Gurumurthy lied, claiming she had gone away. After Madhavi’s family reported her missing, the police began their investigation, eventually arresting Gurumurthy. A total of 16 items, including knives, a stove, mobile phones, and clothes, were seized as evidence.
