Sports Desk: Team India has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy after winning two consecutive matches. While Pakistan is the official host of the tournament, all of India’s matches, including the semi-final, are being held in Dubai due to security concerns. If India advances to the final, it will also be played in the UAE.
Former England captains Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain have weighed in on the situation, suggesting that playing all matches at a single venue gives India a strategic edge. Atherton pointed out that unlike other teams that need to adapt to multiple conditions and travel between venues, India can focus entirely on mastering the playing conditions in Dubai.
Hussain echoed this view, noting that India has selected more spinners in anticipation of UAE’s spin-friendly pitches, while teams playing in Pakistan must adjust their squads to local conditions. Australian cricketer Pat Cummins also acknowledged the advantage, stating that India is already a strong team, and playing exclusively in Dubai only adds to its dominance.
