Polavaram: The Andhra Pradesh Jeevanadi Polavaram project was inspected by international water resources experts on Sunday. Four experts from the United States and Canada—David P. Paul and Gain Franco de Cicco from the U.S., and Richard Dannelly and Sean Hinch Berger from Canada—arrived to evaluate the project.
The experts began their inspection in the morning, examining the surrounding areas and consulting with local officials. Their focus will include the diaphragm wall, two coffer dams, and guide carriages. This comprehensive study will span from the original project designs to its current status. The experts’ onsite assessment will continue until July 3.
Following their inspection, the experts will conduct a review with officials from the Central and State Water Resources Departments, as well as the construction companies involved. The review aims to address the consequences of what are seen as poor decisions made over the past five years, which have significantly impacted the project.
The state government enlisted these international experts to provide an objective evaluation and to help navigate the challenges faced by the Polavaram project, which is crucial for Andhra Pradesh’s water resources management.
