Delhi: In a historic ceremony at 30 Prithviraj Road in Delhi on Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, and other dignitaries gathered to confer the prestigious Bharat Ratna award upon 96-year-old former Deputy Prime Minister, Lal Krishna Advani.
Coinciding with Easter Sunday, the day the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was founded in 1980, Advani’s official residence became the venue for this momentous occasion. The timing holds significant symbolism, as the BJP’s inception on Easter Sunday mirrored the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Advani, a founding member of the BJP alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has played a pivotal role in reshaping Indian politics. From his humble beginnings as a non-Hindi speaking Sindhi in Karachi to his leadership in the RSS and pivotal roles in public mobilization, Advani’s journey defied traditional political stereotypes, leaving an indelible mark on Indian history.
