Mumbai: The Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra has introduced the Chief Minister Yuva Karya Prasikshana Yojana, an internship program aimed at unemployed youth. Under this scheme, eligible residents aged 18-35 will receive monthly stipends based on their educational qualifications, with a total budget of ₹5,500 crores allocated for the initiative.
The program targets youth who have completed at least 12th grade, providing ₹6,000 per month for 12th pass candidates, ₹8,000 for ITI/Diploma holders, and ₹10,000 for those with a degree or postgraduate qualification. The six-month internships will offer practical training to align young people with industry needs.
Announced by CM Eknath Shinde in Pandharpur, this scheme addresses growing calls for employment programs similar to the Ladli Behan scheme for women. The initiative comes ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, set for October-November, where Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and the BJP will contest as an alliance.
