Tadepalli: Former MLA Malladi Vishnu has raised serious concerns over the collapse of Andhra Pradesh’s pension system under the TDP-led coalition government, alleging that over three lakh names were axed from the beneficiary list, jeopardizing social security for the vulnerable.
Speaking at the Party Central Office, Vishnu highlighted that during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, pensions worth ₹92,547.66 crores were seamlessly delivered to 66,34,747 beneficiaries through a robust volunteer system, ensuring doorstep delivery by 5:00 AM. However, in just six months under the coalition government, the number of beneficiaries has dropped to 63,20,282, with over three lakh names missing.
He accused TDP of disrupting the pension delivery system, citing a complaint to the Election Commission that halted doorstep delivery during elections, forcing elderly citizens to collect pensions from Sachivalayams. This led to tragic incidents, including 46 deaths due to heat exposure.
Vishnu further alleged manipulation of beneficiary data, with pensions being arbitrarily removed or reassigned across districts under Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar’s directives in Addanki constituency. He condemned the coalition’s alleged political vendetta targeting YSRCP supporters and sidelining two lakh new applications without verification.
Calling for transparency and accountability, Vishnu emphasized the stark contrast between Jagan’s welfare-driven governance and the coalition’s mismanagement.
