Tadepalli: Former Minister Perni Nani sharply criticized sections of the media for allegedly spreading false narratives against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing them of bias and political motives. Addressing the media, he stated that these negative reports aim to tarnish Jagan’s image, despite YSRCP maintaining over 40% vote share.
Perni Nani accused the media of double standards, highlighting how industrialist Gautam Adani’s deals with Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh were portrayed positively, whereas similar agreements involving Jagan, such as the Data Centre project, were shown in a negative light. He claimed that Naidu has aligned with Congress to weaken YSRCP, but the attempt would fail.
Refuting allegations of a ₹1,750 crore corruption scam, Nani defended Jagan’s agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), stating it was made to secure power at a cheaper rate than previous deals under Naidu’s leadership.
Nani also pointed to Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged involvement in international corruption scandals, including the jailing of his close associate Eshwaran in Singapore. He criticized the selective portrayal of Adani’s meetings with leaders, accusing the media of unfairly targeting Jagan while shielding Naidu.
