Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, emphasized the importance of the state’s ongoing skill census survey in creating meaningful employment opportunities for the youth. During a review meeting with Skill Development officials at his Undavalli residence, Lokesh underlined that the skill census is not just a formality but a crucial step towards addressing the employment gap.
The state government, as part of the skill census, will compile detailed profiles of the youth, including their academic qualifications, current employment status, and skill sets. These profiles will be made accessible to companies, allowing them to directly select candidates with the necessary skills.
Lokesh urged officials to keep the skill profiles updated regularly and advised youth not to harbor misconceptions about the survey’s purpose. “The ultimate goal of the skill census is to create employment for the youth,” he stated.
He also recommended that officials seek input from industry leaders and job portals to enhance the effectiveness of the skill census. Additionally, Lokesh discussed the app developed for the skill census and instructed officials to update it as needed.
Steps will also be taken to fill vacant teaching positions in state universities and improve their rankings.
