Guntur: Former Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Guntur district president Ambati Rambabu has slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s government for burdening Andhra Pradesh with massive debts instead of delivering on promises of wealth creation. Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Rambabu accused the TDP-led government of misleading people with hollow assurances and failing to fulfill key commitments.
Rambabu revealed that the state has incurred debts of Rs 65,000 crore in just six months under TDP rule, with Rs 31,000 crore borrowed for Amaravati and an additional Rs 21,000 crore in the pipeline. He questioned the benefit of such massive borrowings to the public, branding the promises of wealth creation as deceptive.
Highlighting failures, he noted that the government has not provided the promised Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment allowance, while over 2.6 lakh workers, including health staff and volunteers, were laid off. The pledge to create 20 lakh jobs remains unfulfilled, with existing jobs being eliminated instead.
Ambati also condemned a 25-55% hike in electricity tariffs, imposing an additional burden of Rs 15,485 crore on consumers, and criticized toll charges on local roads. Calling TDP’s policies mismanaged, he urged protests against electricity tariff hikes on December 27.
