Visakhapatnam: YSRCP Women’s Wing President Varudu Kalyani condemned the state government’s inaction regarding the growing incidents of crimes against women and girls, calling it a severe failure in ensuring public safety.
Speaking to the media in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, Kalyani highlighted a disturbing rise in violent crimes, including rapes and murders, across several districts. She criticized the government for prioritizing political interests over public safety, pointing to recent incidents, such as the killing of a Circle Inspector’s mother, that reveal a troubling lack of security in the state.
Kalyani condemned the recent kidnapping and attempted murder of a student in YSR District, urging immediate government intervention. She also questioned the government’s dedication to addressing the growing drug issue and called out leaders like MLA Balakrishna and Home Minister Anitha for their silence on the Hindupur rape case involving a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. According to Kalyani, proactive measures could have helped prevent such tragedies.
