Tirupati: Veteran media entrepreneur and philanthropist Bollineni Rajagopal Naidu, commonly known as BR Naidu, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, a move endorsed by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Born in Chittoor district to a humble farming family, Naidu’s journey from rural beginnings to a successful businessman and community leader is a testament to his determination. The sixth child of Muniswamy Naidu and Lakshmi, he began his career at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), where he quickly became known for championing workers’ rights as the General Secretary of 12,000 employees. His wife, Vijayalakshmi, also served with BHEL, deepening their shared commitment to community and welfare.
BR Naidu is well-regarded for his influence in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape, especially during the 1983 “Prajaswamya Punaruddarana” movement in support of NT Rama Rao. His unwavering support for NT Rama Rao laid the foundation for a lasting association with the current CM, Chandrababu Naidu.
Media Influence and AP Development
BR Naidu’s media house, TV5, has consistently advocated for independent journalism and the development of Andhra Pradesh, particularly supporting the Amaravati capital project. His stand against unfavorable government policies, despite facing political repercussions, underscores his commitment to public welfare. His sons, Ravindranath and Surendranath, continue his media legacy as Managing Director and Vice President of TV5, respectively.
Promoting Hindu Values and Philanthropy
A devout Hindu, BR Naidu has promoted Indian spiritual and cultural values through his channel, Hindu Dharmam. His annual event, Sivaparvatula Kalyanam, has drawn thousands, featuring prominent seers sharing Hindu dharma. Through the Shreya Foundation, Naidu has provided free cataract surgeries and extended substantial aid during the COVID-19 crisis.
As TTD Chairman, Naidu aims to enhance transparency, infrastructure, and accessibility for pilgrims, promising a transformative era for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. With his profound connection to the region and commitment to service, BR Naidu’s leadership is expected to bring prosperity and a renewed sense of purpose to this esteemed temple institution.
