Delhi: Vijayasai Reddy announced his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, citing personal reasons for his decision. In a media conference held in Delhi, he confirmed that his resignation letter was submitted to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who accepted it. Despite having three and a half years remaining in his tenure, Reddy stated that he had decided to step away from politics altogether.
Reddy, a senior leader in the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), expressed confidence in the party’s future, noting that even with his departure, the popularity of party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy remains strong. He acknowledged the party’s significant success in the 2019 elections and the 40 percent vote share in the 2024 elections, further asserting that his resignation would benefit the party and its alliance.
Reddy also addressed several media questions, emphasizing his commitment to honesty and his longstanding relationship with the YS family, spanning over four decades. He rejected accusations of business dealings or financial transactions, stating his focus remained solely on serving the party and people.
