Kanchikacharla (NTR): A welfare secretary in Kanchikacharla town of NTR district has allegedly absconded with ₹7.55 lakh meant for pensioners. The accused, Thota Tarun Kumar, had been working in the town for the past six months before disappearing with the pension funds.

According to Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) Lakshmi Kumari, Tarun Kumar, a native of Penugolanu village in Gampalagudem mandal, collected the pension amount from the office but failed to distribute it. Concerns arose when he did not report for duty on Tuesday morning to distribute the payments. Attempts to contact him at his home village went unanswered, leading to a police complaint being filed.

Authorities have confirmed that they will recommend departmental action against Tarun Kumar to higher officials. The incident has raised serious concerns about the handling of welfare funds, prompting calls for stricter oversight to prevent similar misappropriations in the future.
