Vijayawada, Dec 29: The 6th World Telugu Writers’ Congress concluded on a grand note in Vijayawada, with a powerful call to preserve and promote the Telugu language and heritage. Honorary President and Avanigadda MLA Mandali Buddhaprasad emphasized the responsibility of poets and writers to convey the greatness of the Telugu language and culture to future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Buddhaprasad condemned recent remarks by a film actress in Chennai who claimed that Telugus came to Tamil Nadu as servants. Refuting the statement, he highlighted Telugu leadership in Tamil Nadu’s history, citing rulers like Srikrishna Devarayalu, Rani Mangamma, and Nayakaraj. He also reminded attendees of Telugu contributions to India’s freedom struggle, including leaders like Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu and Kashinathuni Nageswara Rao.
Buddhaprasad lamented the decline in the Telugu language’s prominence, urging every Telugu person in other states to register their identity in the upcoming census. He appealed to poets and writers to champion the Telugu language and restore its former glory.
