Tadepalli: YSRCP spokesperson Kommuuri Kanaka Rao accused the TDP of lacking moral grounds to discuss housing for the poor, highlighting alleged corruption in the TIDCO housing scheme during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure. Speaking at the YSRCP central office on Saturday, Kanaka Rao emphasized the transformational efforts of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government in making affordable housing a reality.

Kanaka Rao claimed that under the TDP regime, construction costs for TIDCO houses were inflated, forcing beneficiaries to pay lakhs over 20 years without receiving completed homes or basic amenities. In contrast, he stated that YS Jagan’s administration provided houses for just ₹1, complete with essential facilities such as water, electricity, and roads, benefiting over 1.43 lakh families.

The YSRCP government adopted reverse tendering to reduce construction costs, saving ₹392 crore in public funds. Additionally, free registration and subsidies minimized financial burdens for beneficiaries. Kanaka Rao also highlighted the distribution of 30.75 lakh house site pattas and the completion of over 1.24 lakh houses, compared to the thousands of incomplete homes left by the previous administration.

Urging TDP leaders to accept their shortcomings, Kanaka Rao said YS Jagan’s initiatives have set a new benchmark in welfare, ensuring every family has a home.
