New Delhi: In a significant development, the Central Government has given its nod to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s proposals for the interlinking of the Godavari and Pennar rivers, the revival of Singapore’s participation in Amaravati’s construction, and the expedited completion of the Polavaram project.
During his visit to the national capital on Friday, Naidu met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, presenting several appeals to them. Both Union Ministers responded positively to his requests.
TDP MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu informed the media that the Centre’s approval for interlinking the Godavari and Pennar rivers would significantly boost the development of the backward Rayalaseema region and Prakasam district. The Finance Minister assured full cooperation for this and the Polavaram project.
The External Affairs Minister agreed to revive Singapore’s involvement in Amaravati’s development. Discussions also covered the potential impact of the new U.S. administration on the economy and Indian students abroad. Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s shift to the ‘Speed of Doing Business’ model, seeking investment redirection to the state.
Additionally, Sitharaman consented to a 1% GST relaxation to support Vijayawada’s recovery from recent heavy rains, marking a comprehensive positive response from the Centre.
