On Tuesday, a special court asked for a response from the Delhi Police in regard to the bail application of Sukesh Chandrashekar. He was accused of being the middleman in the case where T.T.V. Dinakaran, the former general secretary of AIADMK, who was accused of bribing the Election Commission.

Poonam Chaudary, a special judge for this case issued a notice to the Delhi Police in regard to this plea for bail. The judge also posted the matter of arguments on June 7. Chandrashekar, who filed a case on April 16 with the court, said in his plea that he was being made the ‘scapegoat’ and that he was being ‘falsely implicated’ in this case.

Chandrashekar also argued that he was being held by the police longer than the main accused T.T.V. Dinakaran, as he is not as influential as Dinakaran. This is the second time the court has rejected his plea. The court has stated doubts about how Chandrshekar could tamper evidences if let out.

The court will also pronounce judgement in the case of two other accused tomorrow, hawala operator Nathu Singh and co accused Lalit Kumar. However, Dinakaran and his close aide Mallikarjuna were issued bail. The two were the main accused in the case of bribing the EC for the AIADMK’s two leaves symbol.

The two leaves symbol was frozen by the EC after the AIADMK split into two owing to V.K. Sasikala and                     O. Panneeselvam’s difference in opinion about party decisions. However, after Sasikala was arrested, there were talks of merger, which did not take any solid form.
