On Thursday, the Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu accused the Congress party inducing politics into farmers protests in Madhya Pradesh. He went ahead and called Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Mandsaur as ‘another photo opportunity.’

Addressing the media, Naidu also dismissed the INC’s demand stating that the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan must resign. This demand came from Congress after five farmers were killed in firing by the police in Mandsaur district.

Naidu also said the opposition witnessed a similar incident during their regime on January 12, 1998 in Betul district, wherein 24 farmers died in police firing. This firing was ordered by the then Chief Minister and Congress leader Digvijay Singh.

Naidu said that “The Congress is instigating and politicizing the issue. It should stop doing that and behave as a responsible political party to help restore normalcy there.”

He called Rahul Gandhi’s visit as yet another photo opportunity. Amidst these meets, Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Mandsaur was tampered after the police stopped him from entering the village and arrested him outside the village limits.
