Guntur: A newly born baby died after bitten by rats in the ICU at Guntur Government hospital, Andhra Pradesh.
Officials at the Guntur Government said that the baby died early in the morning because of the complications from a surgery for a urinary infection.
But the family of baby say that when the baby was admitted in emergency care on ventilator, his fingers and face was bitten by rats.
After the family complained the hospital authorities, the hospital allegedly had rat traps placed in the intensive care unit, but the child was allegedly bitten again a day later by rats.
Dr K Srinivas, Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh had sought a report from the hospital and an inquiry has also been ordered into the incident, Hospital Superintendent Dr Venugopal said.
Guntur is 270 kilometres from the Telangana capital city Hyderabad.
