Anandiben Patel Sworn In As Governor Of Madhya Pradesh

Anandiben Patel who was the former Gujarat Chief Minister was appointed as the new Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Patel took her oath as she was sworn into office on Tuesday. At a function at the Raj Bhavan, Chief Justice at Madhya Pradesh High Court Hemant Gupta administered the oath of office to Patel.

On Monday, Patel took a chartered bus from Ahmedabad to Madhya Pradesh. She stopped at Ujjain to visit Mahakal Temple and offer prayers. Until Patel was appointed, Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli played the role of Governor for Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. On the 19th of January, the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a tweet said, “The President of India is pleased to appoint Anandiben Patel to be the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office.”

At the ceremony, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan along with MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with his cabinet colleagues were present. Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh read a warrant for the appointment which was issued by President Ram Nath Kovind.    

Anandiben Patel is 76 years old and was made Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2014 after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. She held office until August 2016 and resigned from her post.
