On Saturday, the Anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not respond to his letters. Hazare claimed Modi’s ego of his Prime Ministership is the reason why he did not respond to the letters. Anna Hazare was speaking at a public rally in Atpadi Tehsil in Maharashtra’s Sangli district.
Anna Hazare said, “I have written more than 30 letters to Prime Minister Modi in the last three years, but he never replied to them. Modi has an ego of his prime Ministership, hence he did not respond to my letters.” Earlier, Hazare had announced his plan to stage another round of agitations in New Delhi starting from the 23rd of March this year. The rally at Atpadi is the first of three rallies that Hazare will address in an effort to mobilise support for the agitation on the 23rd of March.
Hazare said, “It will be a never-seen-before kind of massive agitation that will be a warning to the government.” He further added, “I have no intention of garnering votes through my rallies and agitations. The way there was a huge rally for Jan Lokpal, I believe there will be a similar agitation on farmers’ issues.”
Hazare stated his demands include implementation of the Lokpal (an anti corruption bill,) appointment of a Lokayukta (anti corruption authorities,) pension of Rs. 5,000 to farmers and higher rates for farm produce.
