World Economic Forum: Everything To Know About The Non Profit Organization

The World Economic Forum is a non profit foundation established in Geneva Switzerland in 1971. This organization focuses at improving the world with the help of public and private cooperation. It gives political and business leaders of society to come together to provide global agendas.

This global event is held every year at the Alpine resort town in Davos. The event is also colloquially called Davos. The event conducts four major annual meetings every year. This year’s event will host 3,000 delegates coming from 120 countries. The forum will aim at rededicating leaders to develop a ‘shared narrative to create a shared future in a fractured world.’

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will attend the World Economic Forum. PM Modi will lead the largest Indian group with 100 delegates to Switzerland. It will be a four day long event where Modi will give a keynote address on the 23rd of January. He will also conduct bilateral meetings with the Swiss Confederation President Alain Berset.

As Modi departed to Switzerland he said, “The existing and emerging challenges to the contemporary international system and global governance architecture deserve serious attention of leaders, governments, policy makers, corporates and civil societies around the world.”

Modi further added, “In recent years, India’s engagement with the outside world has become truly and effectively multi-dimensional, covering political, economic, people-to-people, security and other spheres.”

PM Modi said, “At Davos, I look forward to sharing my vision for India’s future engagement with the international community.”

This will be the first time an Indian Prime Minister attends the forum. The last time former PM H. D. Deve Gowda attended the forum in 1997.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be attending the WEF as well. Some of the foreign delegates attending the event are U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. Bollywood celebrities Shah Rukh Khan and director Karan Johar will be keynote speakers at the Forum.
