Amaravati – Andhra Pradesh is set to witness the construction of new highways at a cost of Rs. 6,585 crores under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy expressed gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the project, which covers 348 kilometers of roadways.

During a media briefing, the minister also criticized the previous government’s neglect of road maintenance. He highlighted that potholes have been left unfilled for the past five years, impacting the state’s infrastructure and deterring investment.

Minister Reddy stated that the current government has taken responsibility for improving the state’s roads. He confirmed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has approved Rs. 290 crores to repair existing roads, with work set to begin in November and completed within 100 days.

Additionally, the state is pushing to upgrade 31 state highways to national highways. Some highways will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, allowing for toll collection and long-term maintenance.
