Yesterday, 15 boys held at the Saidabad State Juvenile Home managed to escape late in the night. The local police immediately filed a complaint and a search party is in pursuit of the escaped convicts.
Saidabad Inspector K Sattaiah said, “We were intimated by the Juvenile Home authorities about the incident and we are looking out for the boys.”
At midnight, the boys went into the washroom and cut the bars blocking the window. The boys managed to jump out of the building and climbed the compound wall to escape the premises.
The officials reported 10 of the boys were from Rangareddy District, 4 from Hyderabad and 1 from Mahbubnagar.
After the incident, District Child Protection Officer Mohammed Raheem released a statement. He said the Juvenile Home Superintendent Neelakantam and Director of Juvenile Home Sailaja were both suspended for negligence.
The police analyzed CCTV footage and found the boys walking with their bags in the area shortly after escaping.
