The mother of the victim who was molested in a Kerala theatre was arrested yesterday. The victim’s mother confessed the molestation happened with her consent. This shocking incident happened in April at a cinema hall in Edappal.
A 60 year old man was at the theatre with his girlfriend and her 10 year old daughter. The theatre’s CCTV footage caught the man sexually abusing the minor girl while groping the minor’s mother. The mother revealed she was in a relationship with the accused. The horrific incident unfolded in the presence of the mother.
The management of theatre was shocked when they came across the footage. A case was registered against the accused Moideen Kutty under the POCSO Act.
District Crime Records Bureau DSP Saji Varghese who heads the probe said, “The woman told us it was first time the girl underwent sexual abuse. Only a detailed probe will reveal the truth.”
The Childline authorities were informed of the situation and the minor was sent to the Nirbhaya Shelter Home in Malappuram, Kerala. The people monitoring the child said she was normal and interacting with the other children. The child’s detailed statement will be recorded after she undergoes counseling.
The Home Department is also investigating the Changaramkulam Sub Inspector K. G. Baby who is accused of delaying the case. The Childline officers filed a case against the accused last month but action against the accused was drastically delayed.
