The neglected heritage structure from the Nizam era, the Mississippi Hanger collapsed in Gowliguda. The iconic structure that collapsed this morning was used as a bus shelter and called City Bus Station.
The 88 year old structure collapsed at 6:20 A.M., and fortunately no one was injured. On the 30th of June authorities evacuated the premises after a portion of the roof fell.
Executive Director of the Greater Hyderabad Zone A. Purushotham Naik said, “We asked all the 20 shop owners to vacate their stalls and stopped movement of all buses from June 30. As we suspected that the structure was in a very precarious condition, we decided that the entire premises should be sealed off. From June 30, there is no movement of buses.”
The entire CBS premises was already vacated on 30th June as a precautionary measure on finding the structure weak.

The Senior TSRTC official reported the entire complex collapsed within minutes. The Official also said a massive accident was averted by the authorities who took immediate action.
TSRTC Managing Director and Principal Secretary for Transport Sunil Sharma rushed to the spot to assess the situation. As many as 86 buses were parked overnight at the Bus Station along with 2,385 trips through the historic structure everyday.

This bus station was the hub for district buses coming from Andhra Pradesh and other neighboring states. This structure was imported from in the 1930s from the Butler and Co., in America. It served as the first bus depot of the Nizam Road Transportation Department.
