Yet another shocking case of lack of empathy among Indians, comes from Jind district in Haryana. A woman lay outside her home crying for help after being stabbed by her husband multiple times but no one came to her help.
Instead, the neighbors surrounded her and videotaped her bleeding and crying on their phones and uploaded it on social media.
The victim was identified as Sanju from Baroli village in Safidon subdivision. The woman’s husband stabbed her in the stomach, knee and shoulder with a woodcutter. The husband came home drunk and accused his wife of an illicit relationship sending him into a rage.
The incident took place on June 30th, Sanju’s husband came back home after drinking and in his drunken state threw chili powder in his wife’s eyes. The husband then attacked the woman with a woodcutter and as she started crying out in pain he fled the spot. Before running away he warned his wife that he would kill her the next time he gets the chance.
Investigation Officer, sub-inspector, Ram Mehar reported, “I rushed to the village on my bike and saw the woman crying in pain. A neighbor was shooting her video when I reached. I asked him to stop making a video.”
The woman was then rushed to the hospital after Ram Mehar arrived and then admitted at medical college hospital at Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. Sanju was treated and is in a stable condition and has been discharged.
Ram Mehar further added, “The accused has been arrested and booked under Sections 323, 324 and 506 of the IPC. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered. He was produced in a court and remanded in police custody.”
