On Tuesday morning, Rachakonda police arrested an Ola driver for allegedly harassing a woman passenger in Hyderabad.
The Ola driver has been identified as K. Shiva Kumar, a 22 year old from BN Reddy Nagar Colony in Vanasthalipuram.
The woman’s complaint states that she booked a share Ola cab from Gowlidoddi to Lingampally railway station. She further stated the driver started misbehaving with her once the other customers got off the cab.
The police reported in a press release, “After the other cab passengers got down, Shiva Kumar kept on staring at the woman and forced her to give her mobile number and misbehaved with her. He diverted the route and took the PVNR Expressway towards Shamshabad. The woman first questioned him and then started shouting. He stopped the cab at Aramghar and got out. She immediately took an auto rickshaw and reached her home at Vanasthalipuram.’
The victim sent her complaint to the SHE Teams in Rachakonda on their WhatsApp number +919490617111.
The woman also provided the officials with the cab driver’s number and license number.
After this, the police tracked down Shiva Kumar and he was produced in court where he was remanded to judicial custody.
Kumar was booked under IPC section 354 assault or using criminal force with an intent to outrage the modesty of a woman.
Ola responded to the issue and said, “If the complaint is true, then we permanently blacklist the driver concerned and take his details down to make sure he does not resume work again in our company. If there is a police case, we coordinate with the police and deal with the issue.”
