On the 25th of December, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will inaugurate Delhi’s much awaited Magenta Line. The Magenta Line stretches from Kalkaji Mandir to the Botanical Garden. The Magenta Line stretch is said to reduce the travel time between Noida and South Delhi. The travel time between Noida and South Delhi will reduce to a total of 45 minutes.

A source from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) stated PM Modi will flag off the train from Noida after which the 12.64 Km section of the Magenta Line will be thrown open to the public. The Magenta Line will be the first of its kind, a signalling system called the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC.)

The Magenta Line stretch was open since last month but the DMRC awaited the final nod from the PM’s office.

A Senior Official said the Magenta Line System will increase the frequency of trains. The waiting time at platforms will go down to 90 seconds from the usual 2 minutes.

The DMRC said, “The Botanical Garden Metro Station will become the first interchange station outside Delhi. The Kalkaji Mandir Station has also been developed as an interchange Station and this will help reduce travel time between the Blue and Violet Lines significantly.”

The stations are Botanical Garden, Okhla Bird Sanctuary, Kalindi Kunj, Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh, Okhla Vihar, Jamia Millia Islamia, Sukhdev Vihar, Okhla National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Kalkaji Mandir.
