Shiv Sena Party To Contest Alone In 2019 Elections

Shiv Sena has been a long time ally of the BJP party but the religious party has decided to go into the 2019 elections alone. Today, the leaders of Shiv Sena made the announcement in Mumbai.

BJP and Shiv Sena have been the oldest partners but in the past few years, the parties have been more like frenemies. Uddhav Thackeray the Chief of Shiv Sena has criticised the ruling party at the Centre and the State. To most, the announcement of going to elections solo is no surprise.

The decision was made at the Shiv Sena’s National Executive Meet in Mumbai. Sena MP Sanjay Raut moved the resolution which was passed unanimously. Raut stated Shiv Sena was set to win 25 Lok Sabha seats out of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. He also confidently said the party would win 128 Assembly seats out of the 288 seats in the State.

During the meet, Yuva Sena Chief Aaditya Thackeray son of Uddhav Thackeray was elevated to a party leader. Union Minister Anant Geete, Lok Sabha MP Chandrakant Khaire, State Minister Eknath Shinde and Lok Sabha MP Anandrao Adsul were also elevated to party leaders.

The religious party will hold internal polls to elect the party’s new President. The party is also celebrating the birth anniversary of Shiv Sena’s founder Bal Thackeray.
